Finnish Breeding programme
A breed specific goal-oriented programme for is a necessity when a breed club is applying for the approval of the Finnish Kennel Club for any exceptional measures to guide breeding. The most common of this type of measures are different programmes or regulations which aim to help the breed club prevent hereditary diseases spreading within a given breed (the program in Finland is called: PEVISA). Formulating and applying such programmes and guidelines for a given breed is well advised much for this and many other reasons. Dobermann Cardiomyopathy project in Germany

Cardiomyopathy or DCM for short is an illness of the heart that makes the heart extend and to beat weakly. Dobermanns are generaly the most affected by this desease hence its name Dobermann Cardiomyopathy. It is the primary illness of the heart. The illness has 3 phases and it last 2 to 3 years, rarely longer. In the first phase a form of heart disturbance (Arrhythmien) arises. It grows into additional heart problems, the so-called ventrikulaere extrasystoles (VES), which leads to the third phase consisting of a progressive failure of the left heart ventricle accompanied by worsening of the heart's rhythm....Continued on:
