How do we find information about these elements, especially when in a lot of cases informations regarding cause of death inhererity problems are kept as secret? And temperament? A lot od people one way or an other hide what their dog, is really made of. Does temper go to the offsprings and in which way?

Temperament is a genetic factor. Dogs for protection training come from sport breeding programs (schH, french ring, KNPV, NVBK etc). I personally like IPO breedign program. ZTP test is an extraordinary tool for breeding also.

With a carefully done program, the result will be social and confidents dogs.

A HAH Jump ! So it starts .... thank you for access to your work Tina!
Hello to Biker. Doubtless the volumes of results/judges and existing data bases like DVIN etc are already about as credible as you can get. Objective data such as health certifications should be verifiable from certifying agency or professional, if necessary, as first hand info and anything else rated at least second hand. Subjective data on working performance or character of a dog or perhaps the quality of an event or judge is definitely valuable but much trickier in credibility. How to establish a crossreferencing standard?? Hmmmm

Can we initially identify holes in the data tree, in more recent gens as the older the more anecdotal the info must become. Say last 20 to 30 years? Make blanket requests for info or a trial to follow and see who responds. Minimize negative direction. How can or should individual kennels/breeders be contacted for info to maximize cooperation and openness?

It is a long process. It will have frustration. Awww.....what the hell else are you doing??? Razz
